Pipe Dream Polish On The List swatch and review

Ever since I first saw swatches of Pipe Dream Polish A Night In Vegas cremes on instagram, I've been dying to get my hands on them. When I went over to their online shop only to find out that they don't ship international, I'm pretty sure I screamed internally while doing the grabby hands. Fast forward to last week, deity of nail polish finally heard my prayer because Edgy Polish was doing a restock of this collection! Naturally, I scored 4 that I wanted to try the most.

This is Pipe Dream Polish On The List, a neon pink that dries semi matte. The formula couldn't be more perfect - smooth like butter and had great consistency - it practically applied itself. On The List dried fast too, which isn't uncommon with semi matte/matte. Despite not being a fan of anything pink, I'm in love with this!

Direct sunlight. I wore two coats (sans topcoat) over OPI Nail Envy.

You can see the shy golden shimmers in this swatch.

Indirect sunlight, indoor.

HPB Presents Easy Stamped Mani by A First-timer

Hi! This is my first post for Hobby Polish Bloggers' monthly theme and I decided to do an easy stamped mani.

This look is inspired by nailsbygift. I used OPI My Dogsled is A Hybrid and OPI Alpine Snow, stamped with BornPrettyStore QA96 Stamping Plate.

I was so excited to attempt stamping when I placed my order on BPS. Though my execution leaves something to be desired, I love how it can easily spice things up. As someone who is nail art challenged,  I can definitely see myself doing lots of stamping in the future!

Enchanted Polish Holiday 2014 swatch & review

EP Holiday 2014 is a blackened olive green linear holo with red/green duochrome shift. Word on the street is that Holiday 2014 is similar to another EP called Engineered to Destroy which happens to be a huge lemming of mine, only with a different base color. Since I don't own EtD (nor I ever will due to the steep price on ebay and storenvy), I'm happy to have this.

Like August 2014, it dries to a glass like finish that I absolutely adore. This polish looks unexciting indoor but when the holo comes alive under sunlight, it's magical. No issues with application at all. No staining upon removal. However, I'm still not a fan of EP's thin round brush since it makes it difficult for me to get a clean line.

Taken in direct sunlight with my Galaxy S4 as per usual. Yay because the sun was out!

Artificial light without flash. Swatches below were taken with Sony Nex 3. I'm experimenting with this camera hoping for pics with better quality. It picks up all the imperfections ie dry cuticles, hangnails, dents etc and I might or might not be too lazy to photoshop...

SV by Sparkly Vernis Periwinkle Sprinkles swatch and review

 -Provided for honest review

Periwinkle Sprinkles from SV by Sparkly Vernis is what I would imagine Elsa from Frozen wearing. Described as a light blue holo with blue shimmer, it is a concoction perfectly crafted from ice. I tend to stay away from pastel/periwinkle shades like this, but Periwinkle Sprinkles captured my heart with its complexity. The blue shimmer is so sparkly and when the light hits the polish at a certain angle, there's a flash of light purple. Like other polishes in the Frosted Sweets collection, it dries matte. This matte finish provides an ethereal feel that resembles the icy blue atmosphere confected by snow-lit hills, frozen lakes and ice-covered paths. Truly stunning.

The formula was excellent; I had no issues with application. Two coats gave me full coverage.  Swatches were taken on the second day of the mani with minimal tip wear. I was impressed by the wear time since my nails don't usually last long due to frequent hand washing. All swatches show two coats over OPI Start-to-Finish in direct sunlight.

This polish was a beast to capture. It appears periwinkle purple-ish in my photos but in real life, it's definitely light blue!

My ring finger and pinkie in the following pic are closer to how Periwinkle Sprinkles looks like in real life.

Blurry but it's most color accurate.

I found the formulas of Mint Frosting, Blurple Ice Cubes and Periwinkle Sprinkles to be very good. They were the perfect two coaters - went on smoothly and evenly, and were all completely self-leveling. The brushes were a dream to work with - they distributed the polish evenly and fanned out nicely to make achieving a clean line effortless. Excellent drying time, too. No staining upon removal.

All of them dried to a matte, slight metallic finish that give a wintry appearance. Of the three, Periwinkle Sprinkles and Blurple Ice Cubes have the strongest holo flames that aren't afraid to come out to play even in dim indoor light. I loved all of them but if I were to pick one favourite, it would be Periwinkle Sprinkles. It's soft without being sugary sweet. Besides, the bright, sparkly appearance given by the blue shimmer and matte finish is simply to die for.

Bonus pic! This was taken in artificial light without flash. Two coats each.

The Frosted Sweets collection from SV by Sparkly Vernis is now available at their store. To stay up-to-date on their news, you may like/follow SV by Sparkly Vernis on instagram and Facebook.

Products were sent for my honest review.

Blogging & Nail Polish Goals for 2015

Today is the first day 2015 and so it feels right to me that I kick off the year with a post on my blogging and nail polish goals :)

1. So far, my blog is mainly about swatches and reviews. There are two posts on my bad halloween nails that I'm really proud of but that's about it. In 2015 I hope to learn to do nail arts. I'll start with stamping and then try to recreate some easy nail arts (gosh, that makes me nervous already!).

2. When I started this blog, I intended it for myself so I didn't pay much attention to details like pic quality, dry cuticles etc. But reviewing for SV by Sparkly Vernis has opened my eyes and made me realize that there are people looking at my swatches and reading my reviews. I've been posting on instagram so I know people can see my stuff but it didn't really sink into my thick skull until that. That there are actual people seeing and reading my stuff.  My Samsung Galaxy S4's camera can no longer satisfy the nail blogger in me. At this moment I'm toying with my Sony Nex 3 and lighting setup. Hopefully I'll have them figured out as soon as possible.

3.Though slowly, I've been gaining followers on instagram. It means a lot to me and I'd love to celebrate with a small giveaway when I hit my first hundreds.

That's it for 2015. Three manageable goals for 2015. I shall come back to this post at the end of the year and see if I was able to accomplish them. Here's to a great year ahead!
