NOTD Ruffian Nails

My first ruffian nails! The dark blue shimmer is H&M Nocturne, and the matte light gold satin is OPI Love Angel Music Baby. I used one coat of each here. I absolutely adored the contrast between the dark blue and light gold here. It's simple yet so edgy. Right up my alley!

In sunlight. I'm sad that H&M Beauty isn't available in my country (yet!) as I fell head over heels for Nocturne.

Close up of Nocturne. THE SHIMMERS!

Today I recreated a mani by the talented SoNailicious.

For this mani, I used-
1) Catrice Black to The Routes. This is hands down the perfect black creme. I even bought a back up bottle!
2) p2 Color Victim Breaks My Heart
3) OPI Love Angel Music Baby
4) straight vinyls

In sunlight.

Enchanted Polish Dope Jam swatch & review

Hello again! Back in August, Enchanted Polish released three new holographic polishes + one topper. I wasn't going to buy them but a day before the preorder, something happened and I was in a terrible mood..so um yeah, somehow the entire collection made their way to me :P

Dope Jam is a bright pink holo with strong blue undertone. I stay away from pink as I fear that they might be too girly, but Dope Jam proved me wrong. The cool hue in this polish makes my heart sing.

The formula was perfect with great consistency that made application easy.

In natural light. Two coats of Dope Jam with Dream Polish base and top coats.

Lustré Creme Brulee swatch & review

The last Lustré Nail Varnish that I want to show you is Creme Brulee, an off-white jelly.

Creme Brulee has a sheer formula, and sheer formula and I don't get along with each other. Two coats were applied, and it still looked uneven. Some would probably go for a third, but I've never liked how thick a jelly looks after three coats.

In sunlight. Two coats of Creme Brulee over Dream Polish base coat. Topped with Rica Glossy Glam.

Creme Brulee is now available at their store. Lustré Nail Varnish only ships within Australia but they are stocked at Edgy Polish which provides worldwide delivery.

Today I'm wearing Lustré Ferrero Rocher (yum!), a dark metallic brown. The formula was good, easy to paint with and covered nicely in two coats. Very fall appropriate.

In direct sunlight. Two coats with no base coat. Topped with Rica Glossy Glam.

Lustré Kitty swatch & review

Kitty from Lustré Nail Varnish is a medium purple creme. I'm not the biggest fan of purple, so I'm surprised at how much I actually adore it. Kitty has a lot of white in it, and on the nails it does look a little muted. Very sophisticated, but not at all boring.

Fantastic formula - so smooth and creamy that it practically applied itself! Self-leveled perfectly, too. I think Kitty has the best formula among all the cremes that I've come across. Kitty does dry darker on the nails than it looks in the bottle. No staining upon removal.

Indoor, natural light. Two coats of Kitty with Dream Polish base and top coats.

Today I'm going to show you Lustré Nail Varnish's Hi-Vis, a neon highlighter yellow that dries to a satin finish.

I found the formula to be rather streaky and it took me three coats to even it out. Despite being a yellow neon lover, I was unimpressed by the formula.

Indoor, natural light. Three coats of Hi-Vis with Dream Polish base & top coats.

Lustré Minuit swatch & review

Minuit from Lustré is a teal-leaning blue creme. Minuit has a muted, murky look to it when it dries - such a stunning shade. It belongs to the same family as Chanel Mediterranee (I wanted it so badly but couldn't justify its hefty price), only more teal-leaning and darker.

Perfect formula that went on like butter. I'm wearing two easy coats with my go-to base & top coat from Dream Polish in my swatches below. I was worried that Minuit might stain but there was no staining upon removal. This polish is a must-have if you're a sucker for green/blue shades like me.

Indoor, natural light. My camera made this polish look much more bluer than it really is. In real life the teal hue is quite apparent.

Lustré Aqua Marine swatch & review

Hi, I'm finally back home after traveling in the Europe for two months! Like mentioned previously, there are a couple of new-to-me brands that I want to share on here, with the first one being Lustré Nail Varnish, a 5-free indie brand from Australia.

Aqua Marine is a frosty gunmetal blue. I've never owned a frost before so I was excited to try this. The formula was on the thick side but it flowed on the nails easily. I did two coats for my swatches and was left with minimal brushstrokes. No staining upon removal.

Indoor, natural light. Two coats over Dream Polish Smooth Gem Base Coat. Topped with Dream Polish Gem Glam Top Coat. Aqua Marine looks edgy on nails and I think it would be perfect for an all-black outfit (which is what I wear 97% of the time :P).
Bonus shot. I got this little guy from Heidelberg. Ain't he adorable? :D

I'm taking a long vacation, so my blog will be on hiatus until October. I can't wait to get back to blogging because I have a few *ahem* indie polishes coming to my way in addition to those that I bought in Europe.

See ya soon!

Dream Polish Gem Glow Cuticle Oil review

A while back I came across Dream Polish on instagram when they were having a sale so I took the plunge to try out some of their products.

The Manicure Basics Gift Set consists of (a) Gem Glam Top Coat, 15ml (b) Smooth Gem Base Coat, 15ml (c) Gem Glow Cuticle Oil roll on, 10ml. This gift set is available in numerous scents, and what I have is Clovers + Dirt, a limited edition scent that is described as slightly floral, very green and ozone like scent with rich, fragrant garden soil.

Compared to OPI Avoplex Cuticle Oil (the only cuticle oil that I own), I prefer Dream Polish's Gem Glow as it soaks in much quicker. I can always see a difference in how hydrated my cuticles are right after applying a small amount. Since it is non-greasy and only takes a few seconds to soak in, I can slather it on whenever I like, even when I'm typing away on the keyboard!

Although there is no worldwide shipping option available on their online store, I sent in an inquiry via the contact form. Dream Polish was quick to reply with the shipping cost and then I was invoiced via paypal. So yes, I'm happy with their products as well as the great customer service!

Check out Dream Polish over HERE.

Glam Polish Mystify swatch & review

Mystify is one of my very first Glams and boy was I impressed. Released from the White Witch collection aka Cast A Spell Part III, Mystify is a chartreuse yellow with holographic glitters in various sizes.

Despite the glitters, application was smooth and easy. I used three coats here. Mystify dries to a slight textured finish but one coat of Pretty Serious Cosmetics Crystal Coat took care of it.

Indirect natural light.

OPI Gargantuan Green Grape (blue version) swatch & review

There are two versions OPI Gargantuan Green Grape- one leans toward light mint green, another is more of a pale blue. The bottle that I have here is the pale blue version, which I personally prefer, having seen both versions in real life.

I've had this polish for more than a year, so its formula has thicken over time. This viscosity is perfect for me as it's less sheer, less watery, and less streaky. Application was effortless. Shown here is three coats sans topcoat.

Indoor, natural light.

Green White Striped Mani

Here's a mani that I wore a while back. I did this mani back in May for 30 Days of Colour Challenge but somehow I just didn't get around to post it. I'm a lost cause when it comes to time management :o

For this mani, I used Darling Diva Polish's The Witching Hour (two coats), KBShimmer Eyes Wide Open (1 coat), and straight nail vinyls from Nail Vinyls.

China Glaze Choo-Choo Choose You swatch & review

I miss blogging and wearing nail polish, but my nails are at the worst state since April. My nails have been breaking constantly and nail polish just peels right off moments after. I've tried using OPI Nail Strengthener but it doesn't help *sad face*

Anyhow, this review has been sitting in my draft for a while, I figured it is time to share it.

***
China Glaze Choo-Choo Choose You caused quite a stir in the nail polish community when it was released last year with the Fall 2014 All Aboard collection. It is murky purple taupe with multichrome shimmers that shift between green, bronze/gold and sometimes pink (captured in second swatch). Truly unique.

The formula was sheer but buildable in three easy coats, I had no issues with application at all.

Direct sunlight. Three coats without base coat and topcoat.

In shade. Choo-Choo Choose You sure reminds me of the famous unicorn pee.

I bought this from Nailsupplies.

30 Days of Colour Challenge Day 4 Purple - SV by Sparkly Vernis Moonlit Sea swatch & review

-Gifted by the maker.

Hi all, my fill for Day 4 Purple is SV by Sparkly Vernis Moonlit Sea. This polish was a gift from Sparkly Vernis to her swatchers/bloggers and unfortunately is not for sale.

EDIT: Sparkly Vernis is hosting a giveaway to give out Moonlit Sea. Be sure to head over to their Facebook and IG for more information!

Moonlit Sea is a purple holo with added shimmer. The shimmer was difficult to photograph but it's definitely there in person! SV by Sparkly Vernis has quickly become one of my favourite brands. Their formula is always great and has never given me any issues with application, Moonlit Sea is no exception. The formula was thin and easy to control. Good opacity, two coats gave me full coverage.

In direct sunlight. Two coats. I used Dream Polish Smooth Gem Base Coat and Gem Glam Top Coat.

Have you tried any polishes from SV by Sparkly Vernis? Are you a fan?
